MEET THE CURATOR: SARAH BAHGAT

Sarah Bahgat is a Cairo-based film curator and cultural manager with a strong interest and commitment to socially engaged storytelling across the MENA region. Over the past decade, she has worked with art and film institutions such as Palestine Cinema Days, the Berlinale Forum, and the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Institute, curating programs and supporting cross-cultural initiatives.

In 2014, Sarah launched the Townhouse Salons, a series of conversations with artists, filmmakers and writers at Egypt’s former Townhouse Gallery. She currently programs the bi-monthly cine-club at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo and continues to develop curatorial projects that position film as a space for encounters, reflections, and shared conversations.

Bellies En-route is honored to collaborate with Sarah on the first edition of FilmXCuisine, an event series blending local and international films with authentic bites from the culture featured on screen—one evening a month. Held in Bellies En-route’s Downtown Cairo space, each edition invites a local cook from the spotlighted country to share a selection of traditional flavors.
