Savor the Flavors: A Night of Palestinian Cinema & Cuisine
Join us for the launch of our latest event series, FilmxCuisine, blending local and international films with authentic bites from the culture featured on screen—one evening a month. We commence with a special screening of the acclaimed Palestinian film Foragers (2022, 64 min, Arabic with English subtitles) by Jumana Manna. The film depicts the flavors of Palestinian cuisine that are deeply rooted in the land, shaped by wild ingredients like za’atar (oregano) and akoub (a thistle-like plant with an artichoke-like taste). These herbs grow in rocky terrain and are traditionally forged by local communities. Foragers, filmed across the Golan Heights, Galilee, and Jerusalem, traces their journey from the mountainside to the kitchen, capturing the joy, resilience, and ancestral knowledge preserved in these culinary traditions.
The screening will be accompanied by delicious bites of authentic Palestinian cuisine, lovingly prepared by Chef Nour, who recently fled fled Gaza and is now based in Cairo. Your attendance not only supports Chef Nour and her family, but also celebrates the power of storytelling and community. Curated by the esteemed Sarah Bahgat, this event promises to be an intimate and enriching experience that brings together the best of cinema and culinary art. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to engage with meaningful narratives and savor the flavors of Palestine.
